JACKSON -- Jackson High's big invitational softball tournament that was rained out last Saturday will instead be played this Saturday.

Sixteen teams, including all of the local squads and many of the top teams from the St. Louis area, will take part.

Five fields will be used at the Jackson City Park, with first-round games set for 8:30 a.m. and 9:55 a.m.

The 8:30 schedule is Cape Central vs. Lutheran South, Kelly vs. Goreville (Ill.), Perryville vs. Hannibal and Oakville vs. Hillsboro.

The 9:55 schedule features Jackson vs. Lafayette, Vienna (Ill.) vs. St. Louis Notre Dame, Poplar Bluff vs. Cor Jesu and Fox vs. St. Clair.

Quarterfinal action will take place at 11:20 a.m. and 12:45 p.m., with the semifinals set for 2:10 p.m. The third-place and championship game are both slated for 5 p.m.
