The Huffman Roofing men's slow pitch team captured the Missouri ASA Class C state championship over a field of 52 teams.
Huffman Roofing was 8-1 during the tournament, which began with an 11-4 win over Shur Shine. Huffman Roofing beat Lamar Softball Club (14-7), Osage Vans (14-8), lost to Mailboxes (15-3), then rolled off wins over Red Wings (5-0), Cal Construction (8-3), Mammas Boys (19-6) and -- in the championship games -- Mailboxes (13-4, 14-12).
The championship sends Huffman Roofing into the national tournament in Albuquerque, N.M.
Leading hitters for Huffman Roofing included Chad Callis (.657), Shawn Cook (.654), Danny Dohogne (.643), Bobby James (.581), Todd McDowell (.545) and Steve Ressel (.542). Other team members: Jon Colman, Bill Seyer, Cary Flanagan, Jimmy Stoverink, Jeff Beussink, Ralph James, Troy Hamilton, Rod Landewee, Jimmy Duby, Tommy Stoverink and manager Randy Probst.
