COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Dunklin County, the District 14 champion of Southeast Missouri, captured the title in the American Legion State Tournament by beating Blue Springs 12-3 here Saturday night.
Dunklin County (46-7) went 3-0 in the state tourney, winning other games by scores of 9-5 and 14-0.
Dunklin County now moves on to the eight-team Mid-South Regional 4 that begins Thursday in Bartlesville, Okla.
Seven state champions along with the host squad will battle in the regional for a berth in the American Legion World Series. Dunklin County will play the Mississippi state champion Thursday in the first round.
