BRIEFLY: DUNKLIN COUNTY FALLS IN REGIONAL FINAL

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. -- Dunklin County's sensational baseball season wound up one victory short of the American Legion World Series.

The Missouri state champion lost to the Texas state champion -- Texas City -- 15-5 Monday night in the title contest of the eight-team Mid-South Regional Tournament. The game ended after seven innings because of the run rule.

Texas City advances to the American Legion World Series that begins Friday in Alton, Ill.

Meanwhile, Paducah, Ky., did advance to the Legion World Series as it defeated Libertyville, Ill., 7-4 Monday night in the finals of the Great Lakes Regional in Fairview Heights, Ill.
