The first annual [Dog Day' will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Capaha Park in conjunction with Southeast Missouri State University's baseball doubleheader against Murray State.
Baseball fans and pet owners are encouraged to bring their dogs out to Capaha Park to receive free food, prizes and dog bathing. Dr. Cynthia Sprigg will also be on hand to provide micro-chip identification.
The Humane Society of Southeast Missouri will be in attendance with a listing of possible dogs available for adoption.
The event is sponsored by Schnucks, the American Kennel Club and the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri.
Admission is free but dog owners are encouraged to bring a bag of food to donate to the humane society.
