BRIEFLY: CHAFFEE LEGION TOURNEY SET FOR THIS WEEKEND

CHAFFEE -- The annual Chaffee American Legion VFW Invitational Tournament will take place Friday through Sunday.

Among the eight Legion squads participating will be Cape Girardeau Ford & Sons, Perryville and Sikeston.

Opening-round action Friday will take place at both Chaffee's Harmon Field and Sikeston's VFW Stadium.

At Chaffee Friday, the host squad plays Blytheville, Ark. at 4 p.m. and Cape meets Eureka at 6:15. The winners square off at 8:30.

At Sikeston Friday, Sikeston plays Paducah, Ky. at 4 p.m. and Perryville faces Fenton at 6:15. The winners meet at 8:30.

The remainder of the tournament will be played in Chaffee. There will be six games Saturday, starting at 9 a.m. The winner's bracket final is set for 6:15 p.m.

Action Sunday begins at 12:30 p.m., with the championship game slated for 2:45.
