BRIEFLY: BRUNE RECEIVES OVC HONOR

Southeast Missouri State University quarterback Bobby Brune has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week.

Brune, a redshirt freshman, had a huge second-half performance Saturday as he nearly led the Indians to an upset of Eastern Illinois.

The former Cape Girardeau Central High star completed 12 of 18 passes for 212 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 80 yards on eight carries -- all in the second half -- as he helped rally the Indians from a 32-13 fourth-quarter deficit to a 33-32 lead.

Eastern Illinois kicked a field goal in the final seconds to win 35-33.
