Several area baseball teams have popped up in the recent coaches' state poll.
In 1A, Advance moved up a spot to No. 2 and Oran, which made it to the state semifinals last year, broke in at No. 10. Advance and Oran will hook up in a huge game on Wednesday.
In 2A, Notre Dame maintained its No. 1 spot, but may not remain there since South Pemiscot, ranked fifth, knocked off the Bulldogs 3-2 in extra innings this past Saturday.
Chaffee, off to a superb start with three solid starting pitchers in Matt Stroup, Tommy Stidham and G.P. Glueck, entered the rankings at No. 8. The Red Devils are 12-3. Clearwater High School, in Piedmont, was ranked ninth.
Potosi was ranked third in 3A and in 4A, Sikeston, the SEMO Conference champion, is No. 9.
