Southeast Missouri State University football players Jeremy Atwell and Rashad West have been honored by the Ohio Valley Conference for their performances during the Indians' season-ending 35-28 loss against Tennessee State Saturday.
Atwell, a senior linebacker, was named OVC Defensive Player of the Week. He made 11 tackles, intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble against the undefeated Tigers. Atwell finished the season with 110 tackles and 19 tackles for loss.
West, a sophomore quarterback, was named OVC Newcomer of the Week for the third time in the past four games. He totaled 279 yards of offense against the Tigers, rushing for 135 yards and passing for 144 yards.
Eastern Illinois quarterback Anthony Buich earned OVC Offensive Player of the Week honors as he completed 34 of 47 passes for 343 yards and three touchdowns during the Panthers' 20-14 upset of Eastern Kentucky.
