The Scott County Central baseball team surrendered 24 runs in one inning Friday, as East Prairie broke several existing MSHSAA records in a 24-6 home victory.

The Eagles' single-inning output in the second frame exceeded the previous mark of 20 set by Skyline in 2000. East Prairie also sent a record 30 batters to the plate, took a record eight walks and tied the record for hits with 13.

Catcher Taylor White had eight RBIs in the inning to set a state standard, breaking a 1999 mark of six set by Jake Whitesides of Columbia Hickman. White had an RBI single, a three-run double and a grand slam in the inning.

Scott County Central scored three runs in the first inning and led 4-0 before the Eagles' outburst.

For the Braves (0-6), Mark Freed, Caleb Johnson and Rashad Brown each had two hits. Derek Simpson drove in three runs. Freed took the loss in the game, which was halted after five innings.

Central rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh, including a game-winning suicide squeeze to win at home, to avoid its first two-game losing streak of the season.

Tyler Propst pitched 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief for the win. Justin Myers allowed one earned run in 5 1/3 innings for the Tigers (18-5). Ty Craft and Matt Hester had two hits apiece for Central.

Central fell to Heath (Ky.) 6-2 at home on Thursday.

Oran's Chase Seyer outdueled Chaffee's Steven Dooley in a nonconference baseball game.

The Eagles posted a 2-0 win despite managing just four hits against Dooley. Seyer limited host Chaffee to three hits.

Seyer also allowed one walk and struck out three in seven innings for Oran (17-4).

Dooley allowed four walks, one hit batsman and one earned run of the two Oran scored. He struck out nine.

"He just pitched outstanding," Chaffee coach Brian Horrell said. "It was a good pitcher's duel, just tough luck for us."

The Red Devils fell to 8-13, but have an 8-4 record in games played outside the SEMO Conference.

Caleb Seyer scored both of Oran's runs and was driven in by Austin Dumey both times.

Leopold 8, Delta 2

Leopold improved to 4-0 in the Mississippi Valley Conference with a victory at home.

Delta, which was the home team due to the switch of fields because of rain, managed just two hits on the day.

Matt Stoverink (5-1) allowed one hit in five innings and struck out 11 batters. He walked one.

Eric Seiler, who was 2-for-4, belted a solo home run in the sixth inning and also had a double. Stoverink and Wade Wiseman each had two hits for Leopold (7-6).

Woodland banged out 11 hits, including five for extra bases, in a home victory.

Winning pitcher Andrew Wagner and Willie Piatt each had triples for the Cardinals (6-12), while Dale Long had two doubles and Jeremy Hudson had one.

Wagner (1-5) struck out six batters and allowed five hits in four innings. He walked two batters.

Wagner helped his own cause at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Long, who had four RBIs, and Kyle Reynolds, who had two RBIs, each had two hits.

Hanna Seyer pitched a two-hitter to lead Oran past host Clearwater in a five-inning game.

Seyer walked none and struck out eight while improving to 10-2.

She also had two hits. Alyson Seyer had two hits -- both triples -- and Cassie Graviett was 3-for-3 for the Eagles (15-3). Ellen Sykes also had two hits.

Nearly two weeks removed from their last game, the Bobcats stole eight bases in a game played at Leopold due to wet field conditions.

The weather had kept the Bobcats from playing since April 24, but they weren't rusty on the basepaths. Shea Smith was 2-for-3 and had four stolen bases. Kaci Menz added two steals. Amanda Seabaugh and Amberly Stout each had an RBI for Delta.

Kayla Seabaugh outdueled Whitney Vandeven, as the two teams combined for five hits.

Seabaugh allowed two hits, six walks and one hit batsman but struck out 12 over seven innings.

Vandeven allowed three hits, two walks and two earned runs of the three allowed over six innings. She struck out four.

GIRLS SOCCER Perryville 2, St. Pius 0

Chastity Marr recorded her eighth shutout as Perryville won at home in a Jefferson County Conference game.

The shutout was Marr's eighth of the season and lifted the Pirates to 12-7-1 overall and 3-1 in the JCC.

Alicia Kueker scored with 5 minutes remaining in the first half on an assist from Chelsey Marr. Kendra Schilli scored the second goal on an assist from Joceyn Moll midway through the second half.

GIRLS SWIMMING Villa Duchesne 147, Westminster 90, ND 86

Notre Dame finished third in a three-team meet at Westminster Christian Academy in St. Louis County.

Emily Huber was the lone event winner for the Bulldogs, capturing the diving competition with a score of 180.35. Lauren Bader was second in that event, and Ashley Nenninger was second in the 100-yard freestyle.

The Notre Dame boys and girls teams did not compete in Friday's meet at Kennett due to the death of senior Tyler Glaus. "We have a lot of seniors on the team who knew him," Notre Dame coach Bill Davis said, "and we thought it was better to come back."
