It didn't take Shae Simmons long to earn his first professional baseball promotion.

Simmons, the former Scott City High School and Southeast Missouri State star pitcher, was moved up Sunday to the Atlanta Braves' Advanced Rookie-level affiliate in Danville, Va.

Simmons, the Braves' 22nd-round draft pick this year, began his rookie professional season with the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Braves. He did not allow an earned run over 14 1/3 innings covering seven appearances, including one start. He was 2-0 with 15 strikeouts, eight walks and five hits allowed.

Simmons now is reunited in Danville with his former Southeast teammate, Trenton Moses, an All-American third baseman from Advance High School who was Atlanta's 26th-round draft pick this year.

Moses, who recently hit his first professional home run, was batting .304 (21 for 69) with a homer, five doubles, 10 RBIs and 11 runs scored through Sunday.
