Mark Freed went 3-for-5 with a triple, double and three RBIs to help Scott County Central earn a 14-8 road win over Meadow Heights on Thursday in high school baseball action.

The game was tied 5-5 after three innings, but the Braves used a five-run fifth inning to finally gain some breathing room before going on to win by six runs.

Caleb Johnson had a strong day for the visiting school. He earned the win on the mound and went 3-for-5 at the plate with a double and two RBIs.

Chad Kiefer had a double for Meadow Heights, which dropped to 2-9.

Ethan Sachs tossed six innings, striking out seven and walking two to lead Oak Ridge to a nine-run road victory.

Sachs, a junior, allowed seven hits and improved to 4-1.

Senior Dustin Meyr went 3-for-5, sophomore Garret Light was 2-for-3 and freshman Brett Thomas went 2-for-4, including a double.

The Blue Jays improve to 11-3.

Leopold's Wade Wiseman was 2-for-4 with a double. Clayton Stoverink added two hits for the Wildcats (6-6).

With the score knotted 4-4 in the top of the seventh, Bell City's Nick Niemczyk hit the game-winning home run.

Niemczyk went 2-for-4 as the Cubs improved to 7-4.

Chris Wright earned the win on the mound.

Hattie Cook doubled in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to give the Panthers a home victory over Scott County.

Senior pitcher Lindsey Mayfield earned the win, tossing all seven innings and striking out five while walking one.

Mayfield was also 3-for-3 with a double to help the Panthers improve to 3-7.

Junior Casey Bucher had a strong day at the plate for the Wildcats, going 3-for-3 with one double and four RBIs.

Leopold improved to 11-1.
