David Dellucci and Rod Barajas hit two-run homers as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-5 Saturday to reclaim first place in the NL West.

The defending World Series champion Diamondbacks, who last led the division on June 21, moved a half-game ahead of Los Angeles by winning their third in a row over the Dodgers. The four-game series at Dodger Stadium concludes Sunday.

Ewing may retire, become a coach

Former Knicks great Patrick Ewing may retire rather than play out the final season of his contract. According to a report in the Orlando Sentinel, Ewing is interested in an assistant coaching job with the Knicks or Washington, where his buddy Michael Jordan is a powerful influence.

The NBA source said Ewing still has not made a decision and might even be looking to play for another team, most likely the Wizards.
