Bonds' 585th career homer powers Giants

SAN FRANCISCO -- Barry Bonds hit his 585th career homer, Reggie Sanders had a go-ahead, two-run shot and Benito Santiago doubled three times as the San Francisco Giants beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-3 Monday.

The Giants, swept by the Colorado Rockies in the thin air of Denver over the weekend, snapped their three-game losing streak. With the win, they closed to within 1 1/2 games on the defending World Series champion Diamondbacks in the NL West.

Bonds, who set the single-season record last year with 73, homered to the left-field bleachers in the fifth inning off Brian Anderson (0-3) to move one behind Frank Robinson for fourth place all-time.

Braves 5, Expos 1

ATLANTA -- Tom Glavine pitched a five-hitter and Rafael Furcal drove in two runs, leading Atlanta past Montreal.

Glavine (8-2) extended his scoreless streak against the Expos to 32 innings before Jose Vidro hit a solo home run with one out in the ninth to extend his hitting streak to 21 games. Glavine hadn't allowed a run to Montreal since Aug. 29, 2001.

Glavine struck out eight, didn't issue a walk and lowered his ERA to a major league-leading 1.59.

Dodgers 5, Brewers 3

LOS ANGELES -- Shawn Green brought his power stroke back to Dodger Stadium, hitting his 10th home run in seven games to lead Los Angeles past Milwaukee.

After going 16-for-27 with nine homers -- including a record-tying four in one game against Milwaukee -- and 17 RBIs on a six-game road trip, Green went 1-for-5 with his 13th homer of the year.

Marlins 5, Mets 3

NEW YORK -- Luis Castillo extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a pair of run-scoring singles and had two of Florida's seven stolen bases.

Ryan Dempster (3-5) limited the Mets to one hit over the first five innings as the Marlins ended a 14-game road trip, longest in franchise history with a victory.

Pirates 3, Cubs 2

PITTSBURGH -- Keith Osik's first pinch hit of the season drove in the winning run off Chicago closer Antonio Alfonseca in the 10th as Pittsburgh overcame another strong start by Mark Prior.

The Pirates squandered one-runs leads in the eighth and ninth innings, only to win it in the 10th after Jack Wilson walked with two outs and Brian Giles singled him to third.

Osik, batting .158 and 0-for-6 as a pinch-hitter, then singled sharply into left on a 3-2 pitch by Alfonseca (0-1).
