Southeast Missouri State basketball player Rachel Blunt has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII first team for the second straight season.
Blunt is one of only four players from the Ohio Valley Conference to make academic all-district first teams for their achievements on the court and in the classroom.
Blunt, a starting forward the last two seasons, has a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in sports management. She is averaging 5.5 points per game while ranking second on the squad in rebounding at 4.3 per game and minutes played at 27.6 per contest.
In her career, Blunt ranks on the school's top-10 list in games played with 115, including 64 starts.
Academically, Blunt was named to the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll for the third time in as many years last season and was a recipient of the OVC's highest academic award, the OVC Medal of Honor, for the third consecutive year. She is also a four-time Southeast Scholar-Athlete.
Blunt is one of only four players to hold a perfect 4.0 GPA on any of the academic all-district first teams. She now will be eligible for Academic All-American consideration.
Blunt joins Murray State's Amber Guffey and Paige Guffey, along with Eastern Kentucky's Colette Cole, as OVC representatives on academic all-district first teams.
