Blues encounter fifth straight loss at hands of 'The Dominator

DETROIT -- Dominik Hasek made 34 saves, and Steve Yzerman had a goal and an assist as the Detroit Red Wings beat the St. Louis Blues 3-1 on Friday night.

Brendan Shanahan and Kris Draper also scored for Detroit, which won its sixth straight and improved to 20-3-0-1 despite being outshot 34-24.

Cory Stillman scored the lone goal for St. Louis, which has lost five straight.

Yzerman's seventh goal of the season came on the power play at 8:16 of the second period to break a 1-1 tie. His slap shot from the high slot bounced on the right shoulder of St. Louis goaltender Fred Brathwaite, off the bottom of the crossbar and into the net.

The goal came with Marc Bergevin in the penalty box for holding the stick.

Shanahan's 17th goal gave the Red Wings a 3-1 lead 4:35 into the third when he converted a cross-ice pass from Yzerman on a 2-on-1 break.

The Blues scored first, just 4:37 into the game, when Stillman's wrist shot from the right circle went off the shaft of Red Wings defenseman Mathieu Dandenault's stick and went between the right arm and body of Hasek.

The Red Wings tied it with 7:42 left in the first when Draper tipped Nicklas Lidstrom's shot from the left point past Brathwaite.

NOTE: Stillman has 10 goals against Detroit in 21 career games.
