Oak Ridge scored in the top of the seventh inning Friday to knock off Leopold and advance to the finals of the Oak Ridge baseball tournament.

Stephen Wright pitched six innings, allowed eight hits and three runs and struck out six batters for the Blue Jays as they beat the Wildcats 4-3.

Wade Wiseman went 2-for-3 with a double for the Wildcats.

Saxony Lutheran shut down Meadow Heights en route to a 9-1 victory in the other semifinal.

Bryant Steffens went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for the Crusaders.

Garrett Fritsche earned the win on the mound. Fritsche pitched all seven innings and struck out 11 batters.

Matt Groves added two hits, including a double, for Meadow Heights.

In the consolation bracket, Cody Naramore went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs to help the Bobcats cruise past Richland 20-5.

Matt Gooch added two hits, including a double, while Chase Crowden and Don Stafford each had multiple hits for Delta.

The Bobcats advanced to play Woodland in the consolation final today at 10 a.m.

Oak Ridge will square off against Saxony Lutheran in the finals at 2:30 p.m.

Kickapoo tournament

Bobbi Jo Schlick split a couple of defenders to create a breakaway.

The Jackson senior who already committed to play at Southeast Missouri State in the fall didn't miss.

Schlick scored an unassisted goal in overtime to lead the Indians to a 2-1 victory over host Kickapoo.

Katelyn Myracle scored Jackson's first goal with Erin Eakens picking up the assist.

Jackson improved to 8-2 with the win.

SOFTBALLOak Ridge tourney

Whitney Vandeven produced at the plate and dominated on the mound as Leopold eased past Advance 16-2 and into the finals.

Vandeven went 3-for-4 with a triple, double and seven RBIs. She pitched five innings, allowed six hits and struck out 10.

Jessica Bueter added two hits and Sierra Seiler tallied three hits for the Wildcats.

Cindy Simmers went 2-for-3 for the Hornets.

Leopold will take on Meadow Heights in the final today at 2:30 p.m.

TRACKTwilight Relays

The Central girls took first in five events with the team of Mary Dohogne, Victoria Schabbing, Veronica Schabbing and Jessie Hahn taking first in two relays.

Notre Dame's Jill Schnurbusch set a school record in the high jump, with a leap of 5 feet, 4 inches, and the pole vault by clearing 10-0. Teammates Allie Job also broke the school record in the pole vault, clearing 9-6, before Schnurbusch beat her mark. The Bulldogs won the pole vault relay.

On the boys side, the Notre Dame distance medley relay broke the school record.

Matt Deisher and Ray Woldtvedt helped Central win the boys pole vault relay.

Saxony Lutheran's Ross Gage took first in the 1,600, while Lucy Gage won the girls 1,600 for the Crusaders.

Scott City's top finisher was Libby Miles, who took third in the 1,600.
