The Blues were 0-for-5 on the power play and failed to score a goal with the man advantage for the first time in seven games. The Blackhawks were 0-for-7 on the power play.

Klemm opened the scoring with 4:49 left in the first period with a fluke goal. His dump-in attempt from center ice struck the stick of St. Louis' Chris Pronger, changed direction and slid past Johnson low on the stick side.

White, Chicago's fourth-line center, made it 2-0 by completing a breakaway at 11:22 of the second. After taking a long feed from Tony Amonte, White skated in alone from the St. Louis blue line and beat Johnson with a backhander.

Weight cut it to 2-1 with 5:00 left in the second on a deflection from the slot. Alexander Khavanov shot from the point struck Weight's stick and sailed over Thibault's shoulder.

Both Johnson and Thibault made several tough saves in the scoreless third.
