The inaugural Southeast Classic opened to a cool reception Saturday as only one tournament game was played before cold, blustery conditions won out.
The Southeast Classic will resume today, but will not include the originally scheduled consolation and championship games.
In Saturday's lone game, Northern Iowa kept Southeast Missouri State University winless on the young season with a 3-2 victory.
The Otahkians, who fell to 0-3, took a 2-1 lead into the top of the seventh inning, but saw Northern Iowa push across two runs for the win.
Southeast had scored single runs in the second and fifth innings while Northern Iowa had countered with a fourth-inning run.
Otahk starter Debbie Schmelz posted some impressive numbers but suffered the loss. She allowed five hits in seven innings while striking out 12 and walking three.
Northern Iowa's Heidi Fromherz also allowed five hits but notched the win.
Tami Hebert had two of Southeast's hits, while Michelle Frank scored both runs.
Lindsay Wood had two of Northern Iowa's hits and Jackie Paulus doubled and had two RBIs.
