The Bearcats took second in the 8-team Farmington Individual Tournament.
This tournament has players of the same team rank play one another in 6-mini tournaments where match wins awards participants team points.
Each player could earn team points with a place of 1 to 4 in each flight. Each team earned 8 points for 1st Place, 5 points for 2nd Place, 3 points for 3rd Place, and 2 points for 4th Place. Farmington took home the team title by scoring 40 points, and the Bearcats took home 2nd Place with a team score of 23 points.
In Flight #1, the Bearcats had their #1 player Peyton Boles take on Sikestons #1 Douglass in the first round. Boles defeated him 8-0. Boles moved on to the semifinals where he took on Cape Central’s #1 Jacob Ford. Again, Boles came away with the win by a score of 8-4. Boles moved onto the finals where he lost in a VERY hard-fought match to Farmington’s #1 Brenneke by a score of 5-8, taking home the 2nd Place Medal.
In Flight #2, the Bearcats had their #1 Lawson Blocker take on Cape Central’s #2 (Peters) and lose a heartbreaking, back-and-forth match 6-8.
In Flight #3, the Bearcats had their #3 player Cooper Worley get down early to Potosi’s #3 Eckhoff, only to see him fight back for the 8-6 win. He moved on to the semifinals and took on Poplar Bluff’s Rivetti and win by a score of 8-3 and move on to the finals. He eventually lost in the finals, 4-8, to Cape Central’s Garner, taking home the 2nd Place Medal.
In Flight #4, the Bearcats had their #4 player Drew Chamberlain get a first-round win over Jackson’s Rushing in a tiebreaker 9-8 (7-4). He moved on to the semifinals and took on Windsor’s #4 Bear and win by a score of 8-4 and move on to the finals. He eventually lost in the finals, 1-8, to Farmington’s Coleman, taking home the 2nd Place Medal.
In Flight #5, the Bearcats saw Logan Jones lose in the first round to Farmington’s Wofford by a score of 2-8.
And in the final flight of the tournament, Flight #6, the Bearcat’s Rhyder Williams took home the championship. He defeated Windsors Erickson, in the first round, 8-0. He took on Poplar Bluff’s Castillo in the second round and came away with an 8-3 win and a date in the championship match. There he took on another Willimas, from Farmington, and faced his toughest match of the day. He came away with an 8-6 win and Flight #6 First Place Medal.
The Bearcats host Sikeston in the final regular season match of the season on Tuesday (5/2), and start Districts on Friday (5/5)in the Individual District Tournament at Potosi.
