BLOOMFIELD — Thirteenth-seeded Bloomfield posted a 21-point upset over 12th-seeded Bernie on Wednesday to advance to the consolation semifinals of the 67th annual Bloomfield Christmas Tournament at Bloomfield High School.

Bloomfield took a comfortable 10-point lead into the half, extended its lead to 17 after the third quarter and outscored the Mules 21-17 in the final period to win 65-44.

Senior Lucas Dowdy led the Wildcats offensively with a game-high 26 points (10 FG, 6-7 FT). He was joined in double figures by junior Mathew Sanders (18 points, 8 FG, 2-4 FT) and classmate Ayden Hutchison (10 points, 4 FG, 2 3PT).

Bernie senior Jayden Robinette (4 FG, 3 3PT) and freshman Blayne Morgan (5 FG, 1 3PT) led the Mules with 11 points each.

The Wildcats (5-4) will face 8th-seeded Twin Rivers in the consolation semifinals at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bloomfield High School.

Following their elimination, the Mules (4-5) will have nine days off before hosting Advance at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan 5.

Twin Rivers took control early against 16th-seeded Gideon en route to a 33-point rout of the Bulldogs in the consolation quarterfinals of the Bloomfield Christmas Tournament on Thursday at Bloomfield High School.

The eighth-seeded Royals blew the doors off early, taking a 20-point lead into halftime. Twin Rivers outscored Gideon 17-2 in the third before taking its foot off the gas in a 66-33 victory.

Twin Rivers spread the love around offensively with junior Jake Hester leading the Royals with 16 points (6 FG, 1 3PT, 3-4 FT). Senior Zach Joiner (4 FG, 2-2 FT) and junior Luke Hester (4 FG, 2-9 FT) joined him in double-digit scoring with 10 points apiece while senior Carter Williams (9 PTS, 3 FG, 3 3PT) and freshman Eli Hequembourg (8 PTS, 3 FG, 2 3PT) combined for five of Twin Rivers’ six 3-pointers.

Sophomore Brayden Knapp (1 FG, 1 3PT, 1-2 FT) was the lone Bulldog to reach double figures, scoring 10 points.

Hayti prevailed over Doniphan in a scoring showdown between Dons junior Emmitt Jones and Indians sophomore J’Vonta Payne on Wednesday at Bloomfield High School to advance to the Bloomfield Christmas Tournament consolation semifinals.

Payne led the 10th-seeded Indians with 28 points, hitting 10 field goals, three from 3-point range, and going 5-for-9 at the free throw line.

While no other Hayti players scored in the double digits, several contributed in the Indians’ victory. Sophomore Isaiah Love (4 FG, 1-2 FT) and freshman J.C. Ford (3 FG, 3-4 FT) added nine points each, and sophomore Dwayne Grant (2 FG, 1 3PT) followed with five points.

Jones (13 FG, 7-8 FT) paced 15th-seeded Doniphan in a losing effort with a game-high 33 points. Only three other Dons reached double figures with Isaac Rawlings (6 FG, 2 3PT, 0-3 FT) adding 14 points.

The Indians (3-3) will play 11th-seeded South Pemiscot in the BCT semifinals at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Bloomfield High School.

Doniphan (3-7) will be back in action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2 at Liberty Mountain View.

__No. 11 South Pemiscot 80, No. 14 Holcomb 53__

A big third quarter gave South Pemiscot a boost against 14th-seeded Holcomb during Wednesday’s Bloomfield Christmas Tournament consolation quarterfinal at Bloomfield High School.

The 11th-seeded Bulldogs held a nine-point lead at halftime before outsourcing the Hornets 26-13 and 18-13 en route to an 80-53 victory.

Four South Pemiscot players scored in double figures, led by freshman Kayden Berry’s (8 FG, 7-9 FT) game-high 23-point performance. Joining Berry were junior Torrell Boyd (6 FG, 3 3PT, 1-2 FT), senior Jimmie Morton (6 FG, 1-2 FT) and sophomore Robert Farmer III (5 FG, 2-2 FT).

The Hornets were paced by a pair of double-digit scorers with junior Noah Kenner (5 FG, 2 3PT, 1-3 FT) and senior Jacob Reeves-Crittendon (5 FG, 3 3PT) with 13 points apiece.

South Pemiscot (4-3) moves on in the BCT consolation bracket to face 10th-seeded Hayti at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Bloomfield High School.

Holcomb (3-7) will travel to Portageville for a 7:30 p.m. tilt on Tuesday, Jan. 2.
