Bagwell drives in five runs in Astros' win over Pirates

HOUSTON -- Rookie Kirk Saarloos pitched the Astros' first complete game of the season and Jeff Bagwell drove in five runs as Houston beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-0 Thursday.

Saarloos (2-2) allowed six hits and no walks as he pitched the team's first shutout since Roy Oswalt did it against Milwaukee last Sept. 9.

CHICAGO -- Tomas Perez hit a bases-loaded triple and then made a daring dash home in the eighth inning, rallying the Phillies.

Marlins 3, Expos 2

MONTREAL -- Juan Encarnacion singled through a drawn-in infield to drive in the go-ahead run in the ninth inning, leading Florida.

D-backs 10, Padres 0

PHOENIX -- John Patterson, in his second big league start, shut out San Diego into the eighth inning as Arizona won their fourth in a row.

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Garret Anderson hit a two-out single in the eighth inning to drive in the go-ahead run as Anaheim won an in-state rivalry.

Tigers 5, Royals 2

DETROIT -- Robert Fick hit a tiebreaking sacrifice fly in the sixth inning and added a two-run homer as the Tigers capped a three-game sweep.

Red Sox 6, Devil Rays 0

BOSTON -- Pedro Martinez struck out 11 and allowed two hits in eight innings to lead Boston.

WILLIAMS:Baseball legend Ted Williams signed a pact with two of his children asking to be frozen when he died, according to court documents. Williams' scrawled signature, along with those of son John Henry and daughter Claudia, appears at the bottom of a hand printed note dated Nov. 2, 2000. That was almost four years after he signed a will requesting to be cremated.

UMPIRES:Major league baseball umpires threatened more legal action against owners over management's insistence that union representatives leave dressing rooms 30 minutes before games begin. A lawyer said owners violated the umpires' labor contract by setting the time limit.-- From wire reports
