Week Report: Sims, just a sophomore, shot an even-par 35 last Wednesday at Cape Girardeau Country Club on one of the windiest days of the year to earn medalist honors and lift Jackson to a win over Cape Central and Clearwater. Last Monday, Sims was one of Jackson's top four scorers in a home match against Farmington. He scored a 40.

Season Report: Sims has been a medalist on three occasions this year for Jackson, which is 10-0 in dual meets this season. He averages a 38 on nine holes and is one of several talented golfers for Jackson, many of which are underclassmen.

Coach's Comments: "I think he has some long-term goals and he's striving for those goals," said Cook. "He's been able to stay focused. I think he'll work at it and get even better. He's averaged a 38 so he's pretty good in all facets of the game. He's played under par this year in practice. He may not hit as long as some people, but as long as he plays within himself, he's pretty good. He puts the extra time and work into it. If he's not striking it well, he'll stay late and work on it. He's got some high goals and as long as he keeps working, I think he can accomplish them."
