Jamie Duncan
School: Chaffee
Sport: Softball
Coach: Mark Devenport
Weekly report: Duncan, a senior pitcher, tossed a seven-inning no-hitter in a 1-0 victory over Delta last week. That coming one week and one game after throwing a five-inning no-hitter against Charleston. Against Delta, Duncan struck out 12 and walked four. In her last three games, including a game Monday against Scott City, she has allowed just one hit.
Season report: Duncan is putting forth some unbelievable numbers so far this season. In 26 innings she has struck out 49 batters and has walked just eight. It's no wonder she is 4-0 after allowing just one earned run and posting a microscopic ERA of 0.27. Duncan plays first base when she's not pitching and has a career record of 26-3. She's batting .385 (5-for-13) with two doubles, two runs scored and two runs batted in. Duncan has verbally committed to play softball at Florissant Valley Community College.
Coach's comments: "She's a hard worker and a fantastic kid," Devenport said. "She's very coachable and she's had a lot of success in summer and spring ball. She does a great job handling her success. The other kids enjoy seeing her throw. Jamie has a good fastball and the thing that has really helped her is that she really works the corners and she's developed four different pitches. And she's not afraid to throw any of the four at any time.
