The Midwest Sports softball team won the WASA "D" Nationals in Cape Girardeau. They were the first Southern Missouri team to ever win a national title. There were 27 teams from 18 states being represented. Team members consist of, from left, front row -- Troy Hamilton, Bruce Hunt, Robert Stein, Greg Turner and Dennis Wheatley; back row -- Scott Van Gennip, Chris Montgomery, Ed Rinda, Allen Roberts and Cory Johnson. Stan Leuders, left, of Cape Girardeau, recently received a plaque from John Rauh -- the president of the Missouri State Bowling Association -- for claiming the all-event scratch title at the Missouri State Bowling Association Tournament this past spring. Leuders bowled a series of 710 in doubles, 739 in singles and 738 in team play. The singles and doubles tournaments were held at the Strike and Spare Lanes in St. Louis, while the team tournament was played at the Olivet Lanes in St. Louis.
