Punt, Pass and Kick rescheduled for Sunday

The Cape Girardeau NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass and Kick competition, which been scheduled for this past weekend, has been rescheduled for Sunday at the Central Junior High football practice field.

The event will take place at 1 p.m. with registration the day of the event. The competition, coordinated by the Cape Girardeau Jaycees, is free and open to boys and girls ages 8 to 15. Winners can advance to sectional competition, from which a pool is chosen to compete in the St. Louis Rams team championship at the Edward Jones Dome.

A's, Braves win in SEMO Fall league

The Braves jumped out in front in the SEMO Fall Baseball League standings with a sweep of the Mets on Saturday.

Ben Walters got the win in the 8-2 opener, and Matt Whitehead was the winning pitcher in a 10-7 decision in the second game. Rusty Hendricks led the Braves (4-0) with four hits.

The A's started their season 2-0 with a doubleheader sweep of the Red Sox. The A's won the opener 3-2 and rallied for an 11-6 win in game two. Logan Kirkpatrick and Nick Lambert were the winning pitchers. Adam Kimball added two hits for the A's.

McDowell, Myers claim Dalhousie championships

Mark McDowell and Harriette Myers each took first place in championship flight play at the Dalhousie Golf Club Club Championships over the weekend.

McDowell shot 75s in both the opening and closing rouns to win the three-day event by one shot over Jeff Patton. McDowell finished with a three-day score of 228 to Patton's 229. A second-round 81 did Patton in after he shot 72 in the opening round.

Ben Cantrell was third with a 233. Cantrell shot the low-round of the tournament with an opening-round 71.

Don Beasley won the two-day AA flight with a 167. Bob Garrett was second with a 171.

In the A flight, Bill Bishop and Bill Morgan each shot a two-day 166 to finish on top. Jeff DeWitt was tops in the B flight with a two-day 172, followed by Ken Schmitz's 184.

Jennifer Coad won the women's A fight, followed by Alice Temm and Carol Largent. Terri Parmly won the B flight, followed by Eileen Owens and Ann Dombrowski.

Two teams tied in Corporate Games

TG Missouri and Procter & Gamble shared the lead in the Corporate Games for Division I through Monday's events.

Procter & Gamble won the golf and billiards events on that day to reach 100 points in the division for employee-based organizations with more than 100 employees.

Blue Cross/Blue Shield was third with 60 points and Southeast Missouri Hospital had 40 points.

In a tight Division II race, MedAssets has 100 points for first place with Big River Telephone at 90 and DYS at 80. DYS won the golf and Big River won the billiards with MedAssets second in both events Monday.

Strand fires ace

at Kimbeland C.C.

Rocky Strand of Cape Girardeau recently carded his first career hole in one at Kimbeland Country Club.

Strand used a 9-iron to ace hole 'A', which was playing 148 yards. Witnesses were Drew Ganeles and Mark Morrill.
