Southeast soccer player wins award

Southeast Missouri State University junior forward Lisa Schweppe earned Ohio Valley Conference offensive player of the week honors in soccer after the Otahkians started the season 2-0 with a pair of wins last week.

Schweppe scored the game-winning goal in a 3-2 win over Arkansas in the Otahkians opener Friday. In a 1-0 win over Evansville on Sunday Schweppe picked up an assist. Schweppe finished the week with three points.

Southeast will be back in action at home Friday against the University of Illinois. Illinois is ranked 14th in the nation. Southeast also plays at home Sunday against Xavier.
