Morris wins women'sevent at Cape C.C.

Kathy Morris earned the medalist honor at the Women's Golf Association's event at Cape Girardeau Country Club.

The team of Lisa Bjelich, Morris, Irene Thomas and Mary Ann Vogelsang won play of the day ­-- pink ball.

Scott, Troxel add goldsin AAU Junior Olympics

Susan Beth Scott and Kristian Troxel both won their second golds of the AAU Junior Olympic Games in Knoxville, Tenn., on Thursday.

Scott won the 400-meter freestyle, while Troxel placed first in the 200 IM in the 11-12 year old division.

Gabriela Viera, 9, won her first gold in the 50 freestyle.

"Our kids are putting out some phenomenal performances," Gators coach Steve Franklin said. "We've had a lot of kids medal so far this week, with one more day to go."

Other top Gator finishes Thursday: 10 and under ­-- Vieira (third in 200 IM), Kevin Douglas (third in 50 free, third 50 back); 11-12 -- Ramsey Scott (third in 200 IM, fifth in 50 free), Troxel (eighth in 50 free), Kyleigh Troxel (eighth in 200 IM), Bridget Hale (eighth in 50 back); 13-14 -- Jessica Zander (second in 400 free).
