Cape team claims NSA state title
The Mid America Mortage men's softball team out of Cape Girardeau won the NSA Men's Class E State Softball Tournament at Shawnee Park Sports Complex on Saturday.
Mid America needed a pair of wins over the Park Hills Indians on Saturday to claim the title. The double-elimination tournament included 16 teams, with three from Cape.
With its win, Mid America received a berth in the NSA Class E Super World Series to be held Oct. 7-9 in Raleigh, N.C.
Cook and Garland first among 22 teams
Lachelle Cook and Rick Garland were first among 22 teams at the Southeast Missouri Horseshoe Associaton's most recent event held Thursday in Benton.
Randy Grady and Margie Stull finished second, and Dillon Elfrink and Mike Devault were third.
