Southeast soccer openswith exhibitions

The Southeast Missouri State soccer team will take the field for the first time with an exhibition match 7:30 p.m. today at Missouri-St. Louis.

On Saturday, Southeast plays at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. The match begins at 7 p.m.

Southeast's final exhibition is 1 p.m. Aug. 26 at Arkansas State.

The Redhawks, who won the Ohio Valley Conference tournament last year to make the NCAA field, open the regular season at home Aug. 31 against Northwestern State.

Burnett posts low scoreat Chip-A-Ways' event

Sissy Burnett claimed A flight in the Cape Chip-A-Ways' event Tuesday at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.

Doris Breymeyer won B flight.

In special events, Jean Graham posted the low-putt total and Carolyn Blechle won play of the day.

In last week's events, Lil Angle finished first in A flight and Margie Kurre won B flight. Clara Schafer and Deanna Peterman tied for the low-putt total, while Burnett won play of the day.

Morris wins WGA eventat Cape Girardeau C.C.

Kathy Morris earned the medalist honor at the Women's Golf Association's weekly event at Cape Girardeau Country Club.

Morris also took first place in play of the day -- Nassau. Shirley Moore finished second and Ruth Towns placed third.
