Kurre leads the way at Chip A Ways event

Marge Kurre won "A" flight at the Chip A Ways event Tuesday at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.

Bea Mashek finished first in "B" flight, while Polly Bess posted the low-putt total. Kathy Capfer won the play of the day -- longest putt on No. 12.

Stoverink on pair of winning teams

Cori Stoverink was on both winning teams Sunday in a dual Southeast Missouri Horseshoe Association event at the Knights of Columbus in Leopold, Mo.

Stoverink teamed with Bob Burnett to win a 21-team competition. Martin Williams and Darryl Vandeven placed second, while Virgil Schreckenberg and J. Eftink took third.

In an 11-team Relay for Life competition, Stoverink teamed up with Terrie Rose to claim first. Williams and Lester Powell finished second, and Rick Garland and Mark Stause placed third.

In competition July 30 at the American Legion in Benton, Mo., Williams and Mike Mosse placed first. Jake Kluesner and Dawn were runner-up, while Sally Broughton and Brent Wilson finished third.
