Central Junior High School will offer physicals for athletes from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. to noon on July 27. Physicals will be offered in the nurse's office at Central Junior High.

The fee is $20.

Haas, Keefe tie in Chip-A-Ways

Joellen Haas and Jan Keefe tied for medalist honors Tuesday in the J.C. Chip-A-Ways action at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.

The B class was won by Evelyn Riley.

The play of the day was most 6s, with Bea Mashek, Dottie Gill and Polly Bess sharing the honors.

Bonnie Miller had the low putts.

Rodeo set for Saturday at Flickerwood

The Cape County Wild Horses 4-H Rodeo Club will host its home rodeo on Saturday at Flickerwood Arena.

Slack begins at 10 a.m., and the performance begins at 7 p.m. Events include barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, team penning, team roping, calf touching, calf roping, breakaway roping, calf riding, steer riding, bull riding and chute dogging.

Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for youths and free for those under 6.

Bowman, Robertson first in drag racing

Taylor Bowman of Cape Girardeau won the junior dragster class Saturday night at Sikeston Drag Strip.

Bowman ran an elapsed time of 7.916 seconds with an average of 70.63 miles per hour.

Randy Robertson of Benton won the ET class, beating the only driver ahead of him in the points standings for the summer, Larry Layton of Dexter. Robertson finished in 7.254 seconds, within four/thousandths of his dial-in time, and had an average speed of 93.38 mph.

In the super pro class, Dave McDonald of Cape Girardeau finished second to Mike Buckley of LaCenter, Ky. McDonald finished in 5.458 seconds, beating his dial-in time by two/hundredths of a second. He averaged 124.34 mph.
