Jackson Legion loses a pair to Sikeston, Dunklin Co.
JACKSON, Mo. -- Jackson's American Legion baseball team suffered a pair of losses in two make-up games Wednesday.
Sikeston defeated Jackson (18-15) 14-4 in eight innings. Austin McDowell was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Jackson. Jacob Priday was 3-for-4 with a triple and a home run for Sikeston. Josh Snell suffered the loss.
Dunklin County downed Jackson 12-6 in Game 2. Bryan Austin led off the bottom of the first with a home run and also hit a double in the game for Jackson. Dusty Roberts hit a three-run home run and Michael Birk and Brennan Gibson each had two hits.
Cape golfer deep in pack at Junior PGA event
WESTFIELD CENTER, Ohio -- Todd Obergoenner of Cape Girardeau shot a first-round 85 to trail deep in the pack in the first day of the Westfield Junior PGA Championship.
Seventeen-year-olds Sung Ea Lee of Tacoma, Wash., and Tyler Aldridge of Nampa, Idaho, shot course records to lead the field.
