Jackson to host state tournament
Jackson will be the host city for the Cal Ripken Baseball state tournament for teams with 12-year-old boys. The double-elimination tournament is scheduled for July 28 through 31.
Cal Ripken Baseball is affiliated with Babe Ruth Baseball. Jackson's entry won the state tournament last year.
The games will be played on Field No. 9 at Brookside Park.
Two golfers recorded holes in one Sunday at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.
Bill Frayser aced the 150-yard, par-3 No. 8 hole with a 6-iron. Brad Frayser witnessed the feat.
Also that day, Ron Lessmann aced the 177-yard, par-3 18th hole using a 5-iron. Wendell Mueller and Jared Mueller witnessed the shot.
