Davis resigns head pro post at country club
The Cape Girardeau Country Club is without a head golf professional for the second time this year.
D.W. Davis, who was named the club pro May 5, resigned his position around the end of June. Cape Country Club general manager Dave Kaesheimer on Saturday confirmed Davis' resignation.
He said the club's board of directors had a meeting planned for that day to determine the course of action for finding a new pro.
Davis, who had been head professional and director of golf during 14 years at Rend Lake Golf Course in Illinois, had been hired to replace Billy Birk.
Marlena Jones and Betty Michel formed the winning team in the Cape Girardeau Country Club Ladies Golf two-person scramble Thursday.
Jones and Michel topped the field in the 18-hole play of the day, while Jackie Griffith and Mary Sue Layton formed the second-place team.
Over nine holes, the play of the day was play your own game, and the winner was Chris Sheets. Judy Holcomb placed second.
