McKinney shoots 77 to win 14-15 tour division

Tanner McKinney shot a 77 to win the 14 to 15 tour boys division at a Gateway PGA event Wednesday at Hidden Trails in Dexter.

Eric Hayes was second with an 80.

In the boys 16 to 19 tour division, Corey Brueckner was first (81) followed by Jack Connell and Austin Hunter with 83s.

Jacob Russell shot an 88 to win the 12 and 13 boys 18-hole division. Carr Vernon was second (90) and Cody Cox third (92).

Trent Weaver won the 14 to 15 boys 18-hole division with an 82. Evan Deere was second (86) and Brandon Pleimann third (87).

Brett Martindale and Joe Wiggins tied for first in the 16 to 19 boys 18-hole division with 85s. Justin Fields was third with an 88.

Garrett Callahan won the 10 to 11 boys nine-hole division with a 50. Seth Williams was second (54) and Gabe Wheeler third (57).

Tanner Deiro won the 14 to 18 boys nine-hole division with a 49. Luke Mueller was second (56) and Myles Edwards third (60).

Tyler Arpin won the 12 to 13 boys nine-hole division, followed by Ben Murray and Hayden Combs.

Kassie Walker won the 16 to 18 girls 18-hole division with an 80. Emily Matthews was second with a 94.

Post 63 beats Sikestonin junior Legion action

The Cape Girardeau American Legion junior team rallied for a 7-6 win over Sikeston in its district opener Tuesday at home.

Shawn Prince, Tanner Hiett, Josh Compas and Josh Hiett each had two hits for Post 63. Compas added two RBIs. Prince had the game-winning RBI in the seventh.

Josh Meyer did not allow a run in 2 1/3 innings of relief for the win.

Gators dominate Perryville meet

The Gators swimming team finished first at the Perryville meet recently.

The Gators scored 1,071 points, followed by Scott City (417), Farmington (345), Ste. Gen (324), Perryville (137) and Charleston (21).

Jake Kluesner and Darrel Vandeven teamed to win the Southeast Missouri Horseshoe Association tournament at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Leopold on Monday.
