Urhahn, McCauley earn Notre Dame awards

Notre Dame Regional High School honored Blake Urhahn and Sommer McCauley with the school's Bulldog and Lady Bulldog awards, given annually to senior athletes who are considered the best in their class in athletics.

McCauley was the Southeast Missourian's player of the year in both volleyball and basketball. She helped the volleyball team reach the state's final four and the basketball team to the state quarterfinal round.

Urhahn, a four-year letterwinner, played soccer, basketball and baseball. He scored the winning goal in the 2002 boys soccer state championship game.

Also honored by the school was Sharon Dirnberger, who received the Bob Miller Booster Volunteer award. Dirnberger, a 1976 Notre Dame graduate who also had two children attend the school, has served as the secretary-treasurer for the booster club in the last four years.

The awards were presented June 6 at Notre Dame's 32nd annual Booster Athletic Awards Ceremony.
