Cook and Kern team for horseshoe victory

Lachelle Cook and Rose Kern teamed for a win at the Southeast Missouri Horseshoe Association event Sunday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Jackson.

Virgil Schreckenberg and Junior Smith finished second, and Cori Stoverink and Sheila LeGrand were third in the 16-team event.

The next event will be held Sunday at the Knights of Columbus in Leopold.

Gateway PGA Jr. Series visits Cape Country Club

T.J. Smith shot a 74 to top the 16-19 tour division Monday in a Gateway PGA Jr. Series event at the Cape Girardeau Country Club.

Eric Hayes won the 18-hole 12-13 regular division with a 76. Justin Lynn, Zach Downing, Ryan Richardson, Brett Slaten, Taylor Bond, Emily Matthews and Kate Edwards were also division winners on Monday.
