Jackson Legion defeats Farmington

After scoring only one run in a doubleheader at home on Saturday, Jackson's American Legion team put up 10 runs in a 10-5 win against Farmington.

The RE/MAX Achievers got two hits apiece from Trey Busch, Brandon Gendron, Tony Longman, Zach Brazer and Jake Carter. Brazer had four RBIs, including a two-out two-run hit in the ninth to push Jackson's lead to 10-4. Carter added three RBI.

On the mound Jason Meystedt was on cruise control, striking out 10. Meystedt pitched 7 2/3 innings, allowed four runs, six hits and walked three. Josh Snell closed out the game for the Achievers.

Jackson improved to 11-4 and will travel to Blytheville, Ark., for a single game at 5:30 p.m. tonight.

Coad, McHenry win Dalhousie event

Jennifer Coad and Ruth McHenry shot a 73 to win the Ladies Guest Day tournament at Dalhousie Golf Club.

The team of Eileen Owens and Dot Owens (80) finished second, winning a scorecard playoff with Alice Temm and Jane Kirk.

Ann Dombrowski and Sis Erlbacher (82) also won a scorecard playoff to win A flight. Terri Parmly and Vicki McKinney placed second.

Closest to the pin winners were Deana Estes (No. 8), Temm (No. 11) and Dot Owens (No. 13). Coad had the longest drive and Eileen Owens won the longest putt.
