Southeast Booster Club Blitz Day coming up
The Southeast Missouri State Booster Club will kick off its 2006-2007 fund drive with Thursday's annual Blitz Day.
Volunteers will fan out around the community, visiting local businesses in order to renew booster memberships, sign up new boosters and sell season tickets.
Lachelle Cook and Karen Jansen placed first in the Southeast Missouri Horseshoe Association event at the Knights of Columbus in Oran, Mo.
Cori Stoverink and Brent Wilson finished second, and Martin Williams and Mike Mosse took third.
Two events will be played this weekend. A tournament will start 1 p.m. Saturday at the Oran J.C. Park in Oran. On Sunday, competition will begin at 1 p.m. at the Backyard Horseshoe Club in Glenallen, Mo.
The team of Ashley McMillan, Danny Laster, Johnie Downing and Brandon Stone won the afternoon championship flight of the Cape West Rotary/Southeast Missouri State University golf tournament on Monday at Dalhousie Golf Club. The foursome shot a 54 for top honors.
The team of Gary Johnson, Mike Divaney, Steve Byrd and Ben Dow won the morning championship flight with a score of 63.

The team of Lillian Schneider and Sharon McCune posted a 68 to win the Kimbeland two-lady in-club scramble tournament on Saturday.
Schneider and McCune topped the championship flight, one shot ahead of the team of Barb Johnson and Dixie Jones and the team of Kathy Raines and Nancy Kohl.
Dorothy Holland and Margaret Sanders tied Linda Hoffman and Sheila Hager atop the A flight. The B flight also had a tie for first with Patti Garrison and Shelly Bohn tying Carole Galvin and Mona Williams.

Randy Robertson of Benton and Ron Simmons of Cape Girardeau were runner-up finishers in their respective classes Saturday night at the Sikeston Drag Strip.
Robertson finished second in the pro class to points leader David Leonard of Sikeston. Robertson was making his first finals appearance.
Simmons, a former track champion, was edged in the super pro final by Ken Parris of Dexter, Mo.
Josh Lukefahr of Jackson made his first career hole in one on Monday on the 12th hole at Kimbeland Country Club in Jackson.
Lukefahr used a 5-iron to ace the 167-yard par-3.
Witnesses were Dave Little, Don Fowler and Corey Fowler.
Joellen Haas was the medalist Tuesday for the Chip A Ways women's golf league at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.
Margie Kurre won the B flight, Deanna Peterman had the low putts and Liz Grimes won the play of the day.
