The Ohio Valley Conference's top performers in football and women's basketball have been selected as the OVC Athletes of the Year for 2003-04 in voting by the league's athletics directors and sports information directors.

Samford junior wide receiver Efrem Hill, the OVC Offensive Player of the Year in football, and Austin Peay senior forward Gerlonda Hardin, the OVC Women's Basketball Player of the Year, will receive their awards from OVC commissioner Dr. Jon Steinbrecher at the league's annual Honors Luncheon on June 3 in Nashville, Tenn.

Hill was a consensus Division I-AA All-American and a Walter Payton Award finalist after setting conference records for receptions (92) and touchdowns (15) this season. He recorded a school-record 1,387 yards, the second-highest total in league history, and led the nation with 126.09 receiving yards per game.

She also claimed her second OVC tournament MVP award and fourth league all-tourney selection while leading the Lady Govs to their fourth straight conference tournament title and NCAA tourney appearance. Also receiving votes for the athlete of the year awards were Southeast Missouri State University's Eugene Amano (football) and Heather Jenkins (track and field).
