Umpires meeting set for Wednesday night

The SEMO High School Umpires Association will have a meeting 7 p.m. Wednesday in the meeting room at River Eagle Distributing, 2346 Rust Ave.

The meeting will include administering Part II of the softball and baseball test.

Slayden edges Fisher in ET Class at Sikeston

Dave Slayden of Diehlstadt edged Calvin Fisher of Cape Girardeau in the ET Class during Saturday's racing at the Sikeston Drag Strip.

Fisher, racing in his Lightning after having problems with his Mustang, had an elapsed time of 8.788 seconds on a dial-in of 8.79 and averaged 81.24 mp. Slayden's time was 7.459 on a dial-in of 7.40 and his speed was 88.75 mph.
