Ladies Day play opens with scramble
The Cape Girardeau Country Club kicked off the season of Ladies Day play with a four-person scramble on Thursday.
Robyn Young, Dana Underwood, Janet White and Barbara Kaesheimer teamed up for a first-place finish.
Luanne Kiefner, Deb Mealy, Shirley Moore and Lisa Bjelich formed the second-place team.
Linda Williams won the A class and Bonnie Miller won the B class Tuesday in the first action for the Chip-A-Ways Ladies Golf at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.
Jean Graham finished with low putts, and Lois Tweedy was the winner of the play of the day.
The Sikeston Bulls amateur baseball team announced the addition of five players on Thursday, including Central graduate Sean Bard.
The Bulls will play in the KIT League, a six-team wood-bat league with players from college programs. Their 50-game schedule will be played in June and July.
Bard, a sophomore at Mineral Area College, is hitting .301 this season, according to a Bulls news release. He hit .323 as a freshman at MAC, according to the release.
