Thurman scores first hole in one of year

Durwood Thurman scored the first hole in one reported this year.

He scored his ace Sunday on the par-3 third hole, which was playing at 100 yards on temporary winter greens. Thurman used a pitching wedge.

Witnesses were Mike Blechle and Kenny Brown.

Horseshoes meeting set for Sunday

The SEMO Horseshoes Association will have its annual meeting 1 p.m. Sunday at the American Legion in Benton, Mo. The meeting will include discussion of the season schedule and the election of officers.

It is open to the public.
