SEMO Cup scheduled for Saturday in Kennett
The SEMO Cup golf tournament will bring 10 teams to Kennett Country Club 8 a.m. Saturday.
Dalhousie Golf Club, Kimbeland Country Club, Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course, Bent Creek Golf Course and Cape Girardeau Country Club.
Teams from Kennett, Westwood, Bootheel, Dexter and Sikeston also will compete.
The morning session includes nine holes of four ball and nine holes of scramble. The afternoon session includes nine holes of Chapman followed by nine holes of alternate shot.
Two-man teams for the local clubs are:
Dalhousie -- Roe-Cantrell, McDowell-Johnson, Swinford-Howard, Ladd-Unger, Coad-Dombrowski, Hamilton-Seabaugh.
Jaycee -- Waits-Shaffer, Cotner-Banken, Sadler-Isbell, Morrell-Cantoni, Ducharme-Oliver, Cunningham-Hollis.
Cape Country Club -- Eler-Smith, Johnson-Durham, Stevens-Womack, Spradling-Abercrombie, Aprin-Couch, Kaesheimer-Kneer.
Kimbeland -- Hosea-McKuin, Davey-Lukefahr, Englehart-Drerup, Mongle-Schoti, Adams-Williams, Kroening-Wehmeyer.
Bent Creek -- Doaley-Miller, McKinney-Easton, Litz-Litz, Litz-McNeil, Litz-Beck, Huck-Allen.
Tom Fowler and Dennis Whittenborn each had a hole in one Monday at the Notre Dame Fall Tournament hosted by Dalhousie Golf Club.
Fowler made his ace on the 180-yard, par-3 eighth hole.
Witnesses were Darren Heuring, Matt Vollink and Shawn Scharenberg.
Whittenborn recorded his hole in one on the 149-yard, par-3 11th hole.
Witnesses were Pat Whittenborn, Bob Whittenborn and Jay Whittenborn.
The Yankees suffered their first loss in the SEMO Fall Baseball League, losing 9-1 to the Red Sox in the second game of a doubleheader.
That decision dropped the Yankees to 5-1 and left the A's (4-0) as the only unbeaten team in the league for 15- to 18-year-old boys.
The Yankees had won the opener 6-5, coming from behind to win on a squeeze bunt by Zach Nolan that brought in Blake Gaddis in the top of the seventh inning. Gaddis and Aaron Floyd each had two hits. Sam Sander outdueled Austin Neal in a pair of complete-game efforts by striking out 10 and walking none.
Lucas Dirnberger allowed four hits and no runs in five innings to lead the Red Sox past the Yankees in the second game. Dylan Harris had three hits for the Red Sox while Jacob Valleroy and Ben Beussink each added two hits.
Sander had two hits for the Yankees in the loss.
In the first doubleheader, the Cardinals (2-4) swept the Mets (1-7).
In the opener, the Cards won 6-5 as Logan Haines and Tyler Propst each had three hits in support of pitcher Justin Myers. Lance Young added two hits. Tyler Branam was the losing pitcher.
The Cardinals blanked the Mets 9-0 in the second game as Lance Young struck out 12 batters. Young, Frank Soltys and Chris Wright each had two hits for the Cardinals.
White had two hits in each game for the Mets and suffered the loss in the second game.
The A's play a twinbill against the Braves (4-2) at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Red Sox (2-4) and Cardinals to follow at 2 p.m. Games are played at Jackson's Legion Field.
