Leonard places second at Sikeston Drag Strip

David Leonard of Scott City settled for second place in a field of 150 cars on Saturday night in the super pro class at Sikeston Drag Strip.

The large field was attracted by a $5,000 double-entry purse.

Leonard, who reached the super pro final for the second straight week, lost to Gary Summers of Dexter by fractions of a second as both drivers broke out by beating their dial-in times.

Leonard bettered his dial-in of 6.92 by nine/one-thousandths of a second, while Summers was closer to his dial-in, bettering his time by three/one-thousandths.

Leonard averaged 96.96 miles per hour.
