Basketball
Youth league: The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will offer a Girls Youth Basketball League for those in grades 3-12. The league will play in three divisions on Saturdays from Jan. 8 to mid-March. An informational meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Nov. 9 at Osage Community Centre. Info: Amy Roth, 334-2859.
Soccer
Optimist league: The Noon Optimist Club Indoor Soccer League will offer registration beginning 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Show Me Center. Registration fee is $25 per child. Space is limited and registration will be accepted on a first-come basis. The league is in its 17th year with play to begin in early December and conclude by late January. Games will be played at Houck Field House. Teams are coed and boys and girls in grades kindergarten through 12 may play in the league's various divisions. Teams sponsorships available for $100. Softball
Team seeks players: Girls 12-and-under are sought for the SEMO Blaze, a fast-pitch travel team. Tryouts set for Saturday. Players must be 12 or younger as of Jan. 2, 2005. Info: Todd, 334-7027 after 6 p.m.
Volleyball
Coed tournament: The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department, along with Burger King and HealthPoint, will host the 17th annual Set and Spike Coed Volleyball Tournament on Nov. 7 at Osage Community Centre. Checkin is set for 9 a.m. with the tournament scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Entry fee is $46.20 per team with a deadline of Wednesday. Info: Amy Roth, 334-2859.
Wrestling
Traveling team: The Jackson USA Wrestling Club will have a final registration for the traveling team 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Jackson High School library. A general members meeting is planned at the same time. Info: Jeff Scott, 335-6826 or 986-7509.
