Jackson (3-4) at Eureka (6-1)

Last week: Jackson 16, Poplar Bluff 6; Eureka 27, Parkway Central 6.

Last year: Jackson 21, Eureka 20.

Outlook: Jackson and Eureka meet in a Class 5 District 1 contest tonight. The Wildcats like to run the football. Five of their backs have dashed for more than 112 yards and three backs have more than 347 yards rushing. Quarterback Luke Thuston leads the ground attack with 720 yards. Jackson coach Van Hitt said Eureka is a strong second-half team. He said they wear down teams, then put them away in the fourth quarter. Hitt said tailback Adam Zweigart likely would start at cornerback this week after coming off the bench to play there during last week's game.

Central (1-6) at Rockwood Summit (0-7)

Last week: Central 26; Seckman 18; Parkway West 31, Rockwood Summit 28.

Rockwood uses a spread formation, but runs the football more than it passes. Running back Otis Woodward leads the Falcons with 593 yards on 107 carries. Kyle Breda has rushed for 370 yards on 72 carries. Quarterback Myles Robinson has completed just 39 percent of his passes for 444 yards. Last year's meeting: Chaffee 13, St. Vincent 10.

Outlook: Chaffee and St. Vincent meet in a Class 1 District 1 contest tonight. The other two members of the district include winless Portageville and 5-1 Hayti, a team ranked sixth in the Class 1 state poll. With two out of four teams from a district able to earn a spot in the state playoffs, this certainly is an important game for both teams. Chaffee coach Charlie Vickery was pleased that his team did not have any turnovers against Malden last week and said his ballclub must do the same this week. St. Vincent coach Keith Winkler said his team must be aware of the long pass play from Chaffee quarterback Aaron Horrell.

Perryville (1-6) at Kennett (6-1)

Last week: Herculaneum 30, Perryville 13; Sikeston 45, Kennett 7.

Last year's meeting: Perryville 31, Kennett 20.

Outlook: Perryville and Kennett meet in a Class 3 District 1 contest tonight. Kennett quarterback Blake Parr has completed 114-of-198 for 1,881 yards. He has thrown for 18 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Perryville coach Jim May said Kennett does not run the football much, relying primarily on Parr's strong arm. May said his defense must maintain its assignments, prevent receivers from getting free and tackle quickly after the catch. Perryville senior defensive tackle/fullback Logan Franklin (5-11, 240 pounds) likely is out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury.

Scott City (2-4) at Grandview (Hillsboro) (0-7)

Last week: Hayti 42, Scott City 12; St. Vincent 42, Grandview 6.

Last year: Scott City 54, Grandview 6.

Outlook: Scott City and winless Grandview meet in a Class 2 District 2 showdown. Scott City coach Ronnie Jones said the Eagles ran an empty backfield with a five-receiver set on every play against St. Vincent last week, and Jones expects Grandview to throw virtually every down this week. Scott City enters district play with more wins (2) than the other three district teams combined (1). Grandview and St. Pius Festus each have an 0-7 record. Crystal City enters with a 1-6 record. Its one win came against Chaffee. Crystal City won the district last year.
