Kelleys complete diving certification

Terrence Kelley and his son, Quentin, both of Cape Girardeau, completed certification to become master divers on Aug. 7 after completing a program that began in October 2003.

They were required to complete a stress and rescue course along with other specialty courses --including open-water diving, deep diving, night and limited visibility, mine diving, dry-suit diving, and search and recovery navigation -- and also had to log 50 dives. They completed their courses at Bonne Terre Mine in Bonne Terre, Mo., with some dives at Mermet Springs in Mermet, Ill. They also logged some dives in Jamaica, Grand Caymans and Cozumel.

The Kelleys plan to work toward certification as dive control specialists.
