Hamilton sweeps titles at Cape Country Club

Tom Hamilton followed his victory in Cape Girardeau Country Club's Men's Golf Association club championship on Sept. 9 and 10 by winning the senior club championship on Sept. 16 and 17.

In the club championship event, Hamilton put together rounds of 72 and 74 for a 146 total to win the title by four strokes over Ben Eller.

The low net score of 138 was posted by three players: John Abercrombie (66-72), Dr. Michael Bennett (72-66) and Tim Kelley (68-70).

Mel Moore won the blue flight with a net score of 129, David Michel won the orange flight with a net of 132 and Dr. Jeffrey Steele won the gold flight with a net of 131.

In the senior event, Hamilton's score of 154 was four strokes better than Keith Middleton.

Hamilton shot a 73 on Sept. 16 and an 81 on Sunday, while Middleton had rounds of 75 and 83.

Mel Moore won the net title with scores of 65 and 74 for a 139 total, and Mark Kneer was second at 75-74--149.

Jerry Brey won the A flight with a 142, Michel won the B flight with a 137, and Bob Phale and Ron Herr tied atop the C flight with a 139.
